Charcoal With A Pale, Warm Sand Tint
Derwent 2301665 is the Sand shade, TC01, from the Derwent Tinted Charcoal pencil range, sold in a box of 6.
Tinted Charcoal sits between a charcoal stick and a colour pencil. ACCO describe it as rich charcoal combined with a hint of colour, and Sand is a light, warm tint suited to beaches, dunes, stone, pale skin and the lit side of a form. The pencil casing keeps fingers cleaner than loose charcoal, which ACCO put as great control with less mess, and Sand TC01 is printed on every barrel for quick identification.
It can be smudged and blended easily, and ACCO call it naturally water-soluble, so a damp brush over the marks softens them into a wash. That gives one pencil two uses: crisp drawing when dry, and tone laid in with water.
