Four large plates that make eight different textures
The Roylco Rubbing Plates Large Texture Pack of 4, supplier code GR086, is a set of four plates that the supplier says create eight textures for drawing, modelling and craft.
The supplier describes the plates as versatile and fun for art, design, science, geography and more. Add texture to artwork by placing paper over a plate and rubbing with a crayon, marker or pencil until the design emerges. The supplier recommends drawing blocks, rubbing blocks or crayons, and notes that rubbings come out most clearly with a hard drawing medium.
The plates go beyond drawing. The supplier suggests filling them with, or pressing them into, modelling clay, and using them with paper mache. Students can also make sun catchers by filling a plate with white glue and food colour, letting it dry and peeling off the mould. Each set includes a guide with craft ideas.
Experiment and layer designs for more effects, the supplier suggests. Pair the plates with crayons and blocks in craft crayons, clay in modelling clay, drawing materials in the Zart range and educational craft supplies.
