Thick willow charcoal for broad tone
Zart Natural Charcoal 5-7mm Thick Pack of 25, supplier code CR630, is a pack of natural willow charcoal sticks from The Creative School Supply Company in a soft-medium grade.
Zart describes these as natural willow charcoal sticks in a 5-7mm thick size. They give smooth coverage in a soft-medium grade, and Zart says they obtain easy shading from black to pale velvety greys. The supplier recommends them for laying ground and blocking in large shaded areas. As a natural product, Zart notes that thickness may vary.
A thick stick covers ground quickly, which suits toning a whole sheet or blocking in shadow before detail goes on. The same soft-medium grade moves from black to pale grey, which Zart describes as easy shading. As a natural product, Zart notes that stick thickness may vary.
Keep a kneadable eraser nearby to lift light back out of toned areas. The finer 4-5mm medium stick suits line work. See charcoal drawing pencils, sketch pencils, drawing supplies and more from Zart.
