A DIY kit for modelling the solar system
The Zart Big Solar System Kit, supplier code DE251, is a do-it-yourself STEAM project from The Creative School Supply Company for building a model of the solar system in class.
The supplier lists the kit as part of its STEAM Education range and describes it as a fun and practical DIY project. It says the kit is designed to teach students about the planets, including their orbit, their colour and size, their distance from the sun and their proximity to each other. Zart files the kit with its poly craft products.
Colouring each planet and placing it by its distance from the sun covers two of the topics the supplier names. Building the model by hand brings art and science into the same project, the mix the STEAM label points to. The supplier names the planets' proximity to each other as a further topic.
Plan the colour of each planet with students before the painting starts. Have paints and brushes ready before assembly begins. Find more in science and STEM, craft foam shapes, craft paints and the wider Zart range.
