Casio's App Based Scientific For Australian Classrooms
The Casio fx-8200 AU is a non-programmable, non-graphing scientific calculator with over 300 functions, organised into applications you pick from an icon menu rather than buried under shift keys.
Shriro describe it as Casio's newest scientific model for Australia, with a reworked key layout. The home screen offers Calculate, Statistics, Distribution, Table, Complex and Vector. A Tools key shows the settings for whichever application is open, a Catalog key lists functions, a Variable key shows every variable on one screen and a Function key defines f(x) for tables of values.
In Calculate it gives exact value output, sequence summation, logarithms and prime factorisation. Statistics displays summary statistics and regression together, Distribution covers probability work, and Table lists values or solves an equation from a table. The screen is a high resolution dot matrix with 4 levels of grey, the keys are rounded with a textured edge for grip, and a clip-on cover is included.
Its main battery is rated by Shriro at roughly 17,000 hours, and Shriro back it for 5 years. They state it is approved by Australian exam authorities, but rules vary, so check the current list for your exam. The Casio user guide is attached as a PDF.
