780 grams across the shoulders, shaped like a red dog

26 x 42cm weighted shoulder pad, 0.78kg. Ages 3+. Single $71.50, set of 2 $142.90.

It drapes over the shoulders and stays there. The weight gives steady proprioceptive input - the sense of where your body is - which for some children is the difference between sitting through a lesson and getting up four times.

Shaped as Patrick the Dog, which is not decoration: a child is far more likely to choose a friendly red dog off a shelf than a grey therapy pad, and a resource that gets chosen is a resource that gets used.

0.78kg is light as weighted products go, which suits shoulders. It is designed to be noticeable, not heavy.

Buy one or two. The two-pack is $142.90 against $143.00 for two singles - ten cents. Buy the pack for one line on the invoice, or two singles if you want them on different orders.

Three things to be clear about before you order

1. The supplier says use it under adult supervision and not during sleep. That is their instruction, and it is the one that matters most with any weighted product.

2. No minimum body weight is published. Weighted resources are normally matched to a child's size, and that matching is a job for an occupational therapist rather than a product page. If a child has a sensory plan, their OT should be choosing the weight.

3. The child must be able to take it off themselves. That is our own rule, plainly stated: nothing weighted goes on a child who cannot remove it without help.
