Etch the Mark Into the Metal, Not a Sticker
The genuine Brother STe-141 is a stencil tape - 18mm wide, 3m long - used as a mask to etch a permanent mark into metal or glass rather than to print a label you stick on.
This is not a label. It is a mask. Brother's description: the stencil tape carries the text or barcode you want, and an electrical current is passed through a pad of etching fluid pressed onto the stencil, which leaves the mark permanently in the metal itself. It works on conductive surfaces, and on glass using a glass etching paste. The tape is non-adhesive and non-laminated, because nothing is meant to stay stuck to anything.
The industries Brother names are the ones that cannot use a sticker: aerospace, motor, manufacturing, and medical and healthcare, where a serial or tracking number has to be permanent and applied without impact. It is also used for product marking and customisation - Brother's own examples are scissors and knives. Because the mark ends up in the surface, its durability is the metal's, not the tape's.
Fit matters more on tape than on almost anything else we sell, because width is physical - a 18mm cassette will not go into a narrower machine. Stencil is fussier still: the machine has to support stencil media, not merely be wide enough. Brother lists 14 machines for this cassette, and several otherwise-capable P-touch models are not among them. The full list is below - if your machine is not on it, ask us rather than assuming.
