The Brother SP-A0001 is a genuine replacement separation pad for the ADS-2100 and ADS-2600W document scanners, the wear part that holds back the stack so only one sheet feeds at a time.
The separation pad works in opposition to the pick-up roller. The roller pulls the top sheet forward; the pad applies just enough friction to stop the sheet beneath it coming along for the ride. When the pad's friction surface wears smooth, that balance is lost and the scanner starts double-feeding, quietly skipping pages in the middle of a batch.
Double-feeds are the most expensive scanner fault there is, because the damage is invisible until someone goes looking for a document that was never captured. Replacing the separation pad on schedule, or as soon as multi-feeds appear, keeps a batch scan trustworthy.
This is a genuine Brother part with the correct friction material and mounting for the ADS feed assembly. It is user-replaceable in a few minutes. Fit it alongside the PUR-A0001 pick-up roller for a complete feed refresh, or order the PRK-A0001 kit which contains both.
