The Part That Keeps Colour Landing Where It Should
The genuine Brother BU-635CL belt unit is rated for approximately 50,000 pages at one page per job, or 100,000 pages on three-to-five page jobs.
The belt unit carries toner from the drum to the paper and holds all four colours in register as it goes. When it wears, the symptoms look like a print quality problem - smearing, colour shifted slightly out of alignment, or toner that does not sit cleanly on the sheet. Replacing the belt on schedule is what keeps a colour laser producing output that still looks new after years of service.
Brother quotes belt life two ways because job length changes it. Short single-page jobs cycle the belt far more per sheet, which is why the rating is approximately 50,000 pages at one page per job but around 100,000 pages when work runs three to five pages at a time.
Like the drum, it is an end-user replaceable part, so a scheduled change does not need a service call. This is the genuine Brother unit for the HL-L8430CDW, MFC-L8730CDW, MFC-L8930CDW and MFC-L8970CDW, built to the tolerances the printer's registration system expects.
