A Classroom Sharpener That Knows When To Stop
ACCO sell the Bostitch 49551 as the Classroom Sharpener Glow, the QuietSharp Glow electric pencil sharpener made for classrooms and studios, with a 7 year warranty.
A pencil goes in and the thermally protected QuietSharp motor takes over, which ACCO describe as quiet and stall-free. The XHC cutter technology is rated by ACCO at 70% faster sharpening and 10x longer life. SharpStop then shuts the motor off so the pencil is not ground down, and SharpGlow lights up as a sign that the point is finished.
A one-hand dial sets 6 sizes, and ACCO note TriWrite compatibility for triangular pencils. Shavings collect in a canister, and the cutter cartridge comes out without tools for cleaning. ACCO list a QuietSharp Glow spare, the EPS11K cutter, for when the blades wear. In the photo a blue ring glows around the black dial against a brushed silver body.
