Ten leads at $1.30 each, and 50cm is the length that actually works
10 insulated leads, 50cm long, alligator clip at both ends, assorted colours.
Circuit lessons fall apart on lead length. A 20cm lead means every component has to sit within a hand's width of every other one, so the circuit becomes a knot on the desk and nobody can see what connects to what. At 50cm a student can spread the circuit out across the whole bench, and the shape of it - series here, a branch there - becomes visible.
Sprung alligator teeth grip a bulb holder, a battery lead, a paper clip or a nail without anyone needing to twist wire together. The plastic sleeves over the jaws keep fingers off the metal and stop two clips shorting when they touch.
Ten is one set per pair of students in a group of five, or one circuit's worth for a whole bench. Assorted colours are worth having: "the red one to the red one" is far easier to say than "the third wire".
