Network Cables
Two limits worth knowing. Category rating sets the bandwidth a run can carry, so a fast switch on old cable delivers old speeds. And a copper run has a maximum distance past which the link becomes unreliable, which is what causes intermittent faults in long building runs. Stranded patch leads flex; solid core is for permanent runs. See Cat6 cables, network switches and ethernet adapters.
