A single-hand double locking mechanism fixes it at any point, and a colour indicator shows at a glance whether it is locked or free. Paper is held flat by clamping strips on both sides of the board, so there is no tape to peel off a finished sheet. A needle hole in the scale lets you set a compass radius directly from the board.

Staedtler build the board from sturdy, break-resistant plastic and fit it with non-slip rubber feet, and state that it is made in Germany. It suits design and technology students, apprentices, architecture and engineering courses, and anyone sketching plans at a home desk.

Adding the Mars 660 20 drafting head turns the board into a protractor-based setup for angled work.

Find matching compasses, scale rulers and more drawing boards.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0863/5419/8784/files/Staedtler_Mars_661_Drawing_Board_A3_661-A3_1_Mega_Office_Supplies.jpg?v=1791401444
