This set pairs the long reach of an extension bar, which fits the needle leg exactly, with a centre wheel on a spindle guide that holds the setting fixed. Both figures are given by Staedtler on their Australian site and in their 2024 catalogue.

The compass itself is solid metal, 154mm long, with a spring-bow head, a hinged leg joint and needle shoe, an interchangeable shouldered needle and a lead part with a 4mm shank. In the hinged case you also get a universal adapter, so drafting pens and fineliners can draw the circle in ink, and a spares box. The catalogue describes the compass as nickel-free.

Typical uses are plan views of round tables and roundabouts, arcs on site plans and large construction geometry.

More geometry compasses, scale rulers and technical drawing tools.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0863/5419/8784/files/Staedtler_Mars_Comfort_551_Compass_Extension_Bar_551-02_1_Mega_Office_Supplies.jpg?v=1791399776
https://megaschoolsupplies.com.au/products/staedtler-551-02-mars-comfort-precision-masterbow-compass-with-extension-bar
