Artists use it for deep shadows in portraiture, stormy skies, strong silhouettes and energetic gesture drawing on large sheets, often finishing a piece that was started in harder grades.

The lead is approximately 3.6 mm across, as Staedtler specify for 6B through 11B. Staedtler describe Lumograph graphite as finely graded, with a subtle metallic lustre, smooth tonal transitions and high resistance to breaking.

The soft tip wears quickly and smudges readily, so keep a spare sheet under your hand. Made in Germany according to Staedtler, who pair it with their Mars plastic 526 50 eraser and 511 001 tub sharpener.

See sketching pencils, art supplies, erasers and Staedtler on Mega.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0863/5419/8784/files/Staedtler_Mars_Lumograph_Pencils_8B_Box_12_100-8B_1_Mega_Office_Supplies.jpg?v=1791399857
