Black is the mounting colour most often asked for on tonal work and on pale artwork that needs lifting away from a white wall.

The matte face is the reason to pick this board over a gloss black. A gloss mount throws light straight back at anyone looking at the piece and shows every handling mark on the way to the exhibition. At 220gsm it is a board weight rather than a heavy paper.

Used for folio presentation, exhibition mounting and dramatic display work, and ordered alongside the white in most art department stock lists.
