On the Achromatic model the clip, cap band and end pieces are black PVD and the cap is lacquered, which gives a soft, even surface rather than a polished one.

In Parker's photos the nib has a dark finish to suit the trims. The stainless steel nib gives what Parker call a responsive and personal writing experience. The pen comes in a Parker gift box with a long blue QUINK ink cartridge, so it writes as soon as the cartridge is fitted. That makes it an easy first fountain pen for someone who likes a minimal desk.

Spare cartridges and the matching all-black ballpoint are sold separately.
