EDX notes that the beads slide easily back and forth on the metal rods. The distributor gives each frame as 7cm x 7cm x 20cm, and EDX builds the design around thinking in groups of 5 and 10.

The distributor lists the rekenrek as a tool for counting by 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10, subitising, addition, subtraction and multiplication. EDX calls it a teaching tool for building basic maths skills in counting, addition and subtraction. With four frames in the set, several children can model numbers side by side.

EDX lists the frames for children aged 5 to 7, and the set of four suits small group work.
