The five shapes are a wide knife of 16cm, a narrow trowel of 19cm, a diamond head trowel of 18.5cm, a knife of 18cm and a splade of 18cm, so each one has a different blade profile.

Five shapes in one set let a student mix colour on a palette with one knife and apply paint with another. The supplier recommends the set for impasto work, where paint is laid on thickly, and the trowel, diamond head and splade shapes each give a different edge to work with.

Pair the knives with a Zart plastic palette for mixing colours and a stretched canvas for finished impasto pieces.
